Method

How we define an area

Neighbourhood has no legal boundary in Oakville, so every name here is one a public body already uses.

Town growth areas
Midtown Oakville, Downtown Oakville, Kerr Village, Bronte Village, Palermo Village and Uptown Core are named and mapped by the Town in its Official Plan Review.
Transit service zones
Oakville Transit names four Ride On-Demand zones and several routes after the communities they serve, including Falgarwood, Glenorchy and Palermo West.
Town-recognised associations
The Town maps resident and community associations, which is how Glen Abbey, River Oaks and Joshua Creek are identified in municipal material.
School review areas
The school board defines Elementary Review Areas that describe parts of town in words, such as northeast Oakville east of Trafalgar Road.

Not a catchment map. School attendance areas are set by the boards, and development applications are linked to the Town ward list they are filed under.
