Context
West Oak Trails in context
West Oak Trails is a 1990s and 2000s community built between two creek valleys, and the trail network it is named for is the thing that actually organises it. Fourteen Mile Creek and Bronte Creek bracket the area, and the walking and cycling routes between them do more to connect the subdivisions than the road grid does.
Development here is concentrated at the northern and western edges. The Bronte Green lands at the southeast corner of Bronte Road and Upper Middle Road West carry site plan applications on two separate blocks, and Dundas Street West to the north holds a retirement residence application and the Halton Sikh Cultural Association's approved development on Khalsa Gate.
The community also holds two of the town's larger secondary and elementary schools, which is a fair indicator of how much of Oakville's population growth landed here in a short period.

West Oak Public School at 2071 Fourth Line, Forest Trail Public School at 1406 Pine Glen Road, Emily Carr Public School at 2255 Pine Glen Road and Captain R. Wilson Public School at 2145 Grand Oak Trail are Halton District elementary schools at addresses in the area.
A temporary redirection from Forest Trail to Sunningdale is active, and ten elementary schools here are inside the Northwest Oakville boundary review.
