Northwest Oakville Elementary Boundary Review
A ten-school review of English and French Immersion elementary boundaries in northwest Oakville, restarted in June 2026 after more than a year on hold.
Under review. A public body is actively considering it. Options may not exist yet.
This is the widest-reaching review currently open in Oakville. Ten elementary schools are named, and the board's stated goal is to address an increasing imbalance in enrolment among elementary schools south of Dundas Street by moving students toward schools that have space.
It has been running, on and off, since March 2025. Trustees initiated it that month, then put it on hold while staff completed a review of other programme offerings outside the scope of a boundary review. On 2 June 2026 trustees reinitiated it and widened it.
The widening is the part worth understanding. Trustees added Sunningdale Public School and Dr. David R. Williams Public School to the study area specifically to align elementary French Immersion boundaries with the secondary boundaries that came out of the Oakville NE #1 review, so that a Grade 8 French Immersion cohort is not split between two high schools.
The board has also folded in the accommodation pressure at Forest Trail Public School, which has eight portables on site and is currently redirecting new registrations to Sunningdale Public School as a stopgap until this review concludes.
