Falgarwood PS and Joshua Creek PS Community Integration Boundary Review
A review of one pocket of housing near Dundas Street East and Prince Michael Drive, which would move back into the Joshua Creek Public School boundary.
Under review. A public body is actively considering it. Options may not exist yet.
This is the smallest open review in Oakville and the easiest to explain. One pocket of housing at the southwest corner of Dundas Street East and Prince Michael Drive currently sits in the Falgarwood Public School boundary. The review would move it into the Joshua Creek Public School boundary.
It is there for a historical reason. The area was one of the last new residential developments completed in that part of Oakville, and when it finished, Joshua Creek Public School was under accommodation pressure and had required portables for several years. The board directed the new students to Falgarwood Public School instead.
That pressure has reversed. Board planning staff cite long-term enrolment and staffing projections showing declining enrolment at Joshua Creek Public School and a reduction in portable requirements, and on that basis recommend returning the students to their home school boundary.
The board anticipates using its lighter Pathway 2 process, which does not require a Boundary Review Committee made up of parent members. Options go to a virtual public information session instead. That is a narrower window for structured parent input than a full review provides.
